The Get Out of Poverty (G.O.P) farm was pioneered by Pastor Samuel Kakande of the Kakande Ministries in 2007.
During the Vice President's tour of the rice farm, he congraculated pastor Samuel for his endless efforts of getting Ugandans out of poverty. He said that
"Pastor Samuel has got the best qualities of leadership. He does not only preach the gospel but practises it. The Bible says that faith without action is dead faith. Thanks for putting your faith into action sir".
Pastor Samuel made his country proud when he flew to USA in 2008 and bought heavy agricultural machinery like tractors, ploughs, harrowers, planters, boom sprayers, and combined harvesters. This brought about the transformation of the Uganda's agricultural sector from using primitive methods of farming to using modern ones.
Ever since the arrival of these machines, the G.O.P farm has always produced high quantity and quality crops.
The vice president said that its a shame that for very many years Uganda has been an agricultural country with very poor methods of farming like hoes and pangas.
"His importation of heavy agricultural machinery has made Uganda be recognised as a serious agricultural country. We appreciate your love for the country and people as well".
However, Pastor Samuel appreciated the government's recognition of his efforts, and said that
"As a religious leader, its my responsibility to see that Ugandans have jobs and that our country reduces on the amount of rice it imports from India and China".
