Namibia coach Brain Isaacs has promised a renewed performance against the Gambia in Windhoek next weekend equating the African Nations Cup qualifier with war.

The Brave Warriors had the full complement of players called up on Tuesday evening with the last to arrive being the players that played in an Under-20s tournament in Angola over the weekend.

Also spotted with the team is striker Sydney Urikhob who was on trails at South African side Supersport United recently.

Coach Isaacs believes his side can still qualify.

“I have been informed that if we can beat Gambia by three clear goals we can qualify for the finals depending on [the outcome of]  my Association’s formal complaint to CAF on Burkina Faso’s usage of Cameroon born player Hervey Dengue, which is being investigated by CAF”.

According to the Namibian Football Association, Isaacs says on Saturday at the Independence Stadium it will be ‘war against Gambia’ as they look to avenge that 3-1 defeat to Gambia last year.

“They beat us 3-1 away and now that they are here, we have to also win. Payback time I suppose. But we respect them. They have experience and good knowledge of the game and have a great coach and their professional players are more than 12 and that cannot be taken lightly. But like I said, we have to set the record straight and win at home for our people and for our sake”.

With so many youngsters in the team as Namibia looks to rebuild a winning team, the coach fends off criticism of lack of experience in his team and believes he has the right mix of players:

“They have big hearts and a great determination to succeed. They might lack experience but surely the potential is there and I believe that can compensate for lack of experience. The willingness of these players to win and make names for themselves is also a motivating factor”.
