Nollywood makes her debut at the 5th Edition of the Birmingham Black International Film Festival, from October 25 -29.

The Birmingham Black International Film Festival recognises and appreciates the works of all Black actors, actresses and film producers from the Africa, the USA and the UK.

The festival’s coordinator, Kunle Aderemi, said that Nollywood deserves recognition especially by the Black diaspora Community in the UK.

The awards categories consist of Best Nollywood Actor, Best Nollywood Actress and Best Nollywood Film.

Nominees include actresses Uche Jombo, Rukky Sanda, Ini Edo and Funke Akindele

The awards ceremony will be preceded by a four day film screening, which will be held at The Drum, Birmingham.

The awards ceremony, will later take place at The International Convention Centre (ICC), on the last day of the festival.

Jimmy Akingbola, who plays Dr. Malik in the popular British soap, Holby City, and Jacqui Joseph of Living TV, will both host the events.

There will also be special guest appearances by Adewale Ayuba & Sammi Okposo at these events.

Special guests include Nollywood stars, Nigeria High Commissioner to Britain, Dr.Dalhatu Tafida, and OFR, several celebrities in fashion, music and film industry, worldwide.
