Sniffer dogs help oust smugglers of illegal Ivory

A Thai woman has been arrested at Nairobi Airport, by Kenyan police.

The woman was reported to have being checked in to travel to Bangkok with 20 kg of illegal ivory.

According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the woman was arrested Saturday night with 105 pieces of ivory jewellery and raw ivory, and will be called before a magistrate on Monday.

Transportation of illegal ivory has become a trend in recent times. Just two weeks earlier two Bangkok-bound Singaporeans were also arrested on similar charges.

The arrests are said to have been helped by the use of sniffer dogs at the airport.
