IQ4News's picture
Nigeria’s NASS elections finally took place on Saturday, after a one week delay.

Many observers have commended the elections as the best conducted elections since the military handover to civilian rule in 1999.

Twitter was also on fire with election fever, with the hash tag #Nigeriadecides, with many Nigerians at home and abroad, using social media platforms as a tool to monitor the elections this year.

Despite the reports of a bomb blast in the northern city of Maiduguri, our source in the region described the situation there as “calm and peaceful, the whole process depicts a new era for the electorate....the zeal and determination to exercise civic rights is indeed on the rise”. “Turn up in Maiduguri seems to double fold even last week's turn out”, he added.

In Lagos, another source described the situation there in relatively the same light, saying that “voters got accredited in less than two minutes and there was a minimum of two police officers at every unit”.

Another source said the “elections were pretty much free and fair”.

The results so far indicate that the Action Congress of Nigeria is leading in many of the South-West states, while the Congress for Progressive change is doing well in the northern states.

Below is the overall results table. We will continue to update the table as results come in:

Thanks for a job well done during last saturday's NASS eletion. I hope other will get better as the election proceeds.

The above satistics MAY be viewed by the entire world, but its a shame that the summation shown is not true.

We need to give the extenal world reason to believe in our satistic or figures when the needs arises.

I will appreciate if things are done right and make Nigeria a better nation
