Alleged Police Brutality in South Africa as Nigerian Man Dies

A Nigerian man, named as Uzoama Joseph, is reported to have died while undergoing questioning by police following the raid in Johannesburg, South Africa.
A police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lorraine van Emmerik, could not confirm the ownership of the property that was raided on Saturday.
"It was a drug raid. Crime Intelligence got information and went to the premises. They searched and found an unlicensed firearm, drugs and ammunition," said Van Emmerik.
The decease man was caught after attempting to run away from the scene.
"During questioning he had a shortage of breath and he died," said Van Emmerik.
There however unconfirmed allegations that Mr Uzoama Joseph died as a result of police brutality.
An online news publication, SaharaReporters, reported that witnesses saw the police set their dogs on Uzoama, prompting him to run to the next house. As police tried to arrest a hesitant Uzoama, witnesses said a plastic bag was put over his head by a police officer. Uzoama died shortly after the incident.
Henry Okah is the leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). His brother, Charles Okah is presently on trial for the Independence Day bombing, while Henry Okah himself is in police custody in Johannesburg on charges of terrorism.
