The Kenya national football team revived their hope of taking part in the African cup of Nations.

Captain Dennis “the menace” Oliech and Mike Baraza each scored to send the home fans gaga in a thrilling African Cup of Nations Qualifiers Match played at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Saturday evening.

The win has now boosted Kenya’s Harambee Stars chances of taking part in Africa’s biggest soccer event set for next year even though the margin of the win was not that assuring.

Goal difference

Kenya, at position two, with six points, needed to win by at least four goals to narrow the goal difference between them and Angola, who are third with six points.

Uganda leads the group with 10 points while Guinea Bissau is in the last position with two points.

Desperation

The Stars’ coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno, blamed for poor starting line-up, admitted the desperation in the Team and among the fans and hoped that Angola beats Uganda when they meet in Luanda.

Kenya last played in the African Cup of Nations in 2004.
