Mission Statement
The International HIV Fund (IHIVF) is a global initiative aimed at enhancing collaboration between Muslim and non-Muslim organisations in combating HIV and AIDS.
Through the Fund we aim to engage in and facilitate communication with national and international HIV-related networks and activists at the grassroots level to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention measures. Our goal is to develop a significant Muslim contribution to helping communities that are directly and indirectly affected by the pandemic.
Our Vision
Our vision is to see a society that is HIV-free. To realise this vision we cannot just focus on the medical aspect of HIV and AIDS. Instead what is required is a holistic approach that addresses the social and cultural factors that lead to the spread of HIV in communities. We believe that by addressing the root social and cultural issues, we can encourage behavioural and attitudinal change. Through Islamic value-driven policies and standards our aim is to coordinate efforts and awareness-raising initiatives that focus on promoting the preventative side of HIV and AIDS.
The values which encompass our activities are as follows:
- Compassion
- Justice
- Respect
- Non-judgemental
In addition to our role as a resource centre on HIV and AIDS from an Islamic perspective we will:
- Serve to facilitate communication among stakeholders
- Allow for organisations to realise their HIV programme plans
- Support technical training for organisations
We actively seek to work with partners that provide support to infected persons and their communities irrespective of the manner of infection and irrespective of race, religion, nationality, gender, age or origin.
