As an African and a proud one indeed I see and believe that the political and socio-economic status of my dear Africa will no doubt improve to ensure the much needed sustainable development; this however will need sacrifice and selfless actions that will involve everyone regardless of gender, age or denomination. Like I stated in an earlier article “we all need to plant the Mandela seed in us”.

We need to selflessly think and do things as Africans, for our problems are ours and only we could solve it. Africans to adopt their own ways of governance different from western concept and form of governance does not depict deviating and or wandering from the right track but for the sake of change, the much needed change.
Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks (when she refused to get off the bus) and a lot of others fought for change and changed it was that today we are not proud of them for their courageous moves but are reaping the fruits of their efforts.
MAMA AFRICA UNDER THE YOKE OF WESTERN INTEREST
We need not to put up a symposium and call on candid political analyst to X-ray the causes of Africa’s underdevelopment, the sole predisposing factor that resulted in the ailment that has subjected the African continent to its present backward yet enfeeble state is nothing more than the interest of the west. This is evident in that slogans like “there is no permanent friend or enemy but permanent interest” are lurking behind the curtains of bilateral ties. That is why the west will stop at nothing to ensure just that is met up and none should dare stand on the way.. We have seen and or heard what happened to leaders who try to become barriers between the west and its interest, General Murtala Muhammed (Nigeria), Saddam Hussain (Iraq), Abdel Nasser (Egypt).
Further evidence come from literal works of individuals whose conscience has compelled them to script stunning revelations about their roles in dealing with leaders who pose as threats to foreign and or western interests and investments. “MY AMERICAN JOURNEY” by General Colin powell clearly and yet glaringly depicted such a situation between America and Panama’s Manuel Noriega. “CONFESSIONS OF AN ECONOMIC HITMAN” by John Perkins and “THE FATE OF AFRICA, A HISTORY OF FITY YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE” by Martin Meredith among others are thought provokingly good read that will get one shedding tears.
MAMA AFRICA FOR AFRICANS
Just as the famous Proverb of the Hausa’s in northern Nigeria that says “mai daki shi yasan inda yake yoyo” (the owner of the room knows where the roof leaks), the problems facing Africa can only be solved by Africans themselves. As true as it is mistakes will be made, but we want to have the chances to make those mistakes and then subsequently correct them. I don’t think if aids, IMF loans or peace keeping will solve the problems, in fact they don’t. Africans need to look inwards as the solution isn’t far fetched if only we are left alone, if only we’d selflessly look
MAMA AFRICA’S SIGNS OF RECUPERATION
With the rich culture and heritage of Africa still intact and a force to be reckoned with, the immense human and natural resources are still far away from depletion and this is evident in that interested foreign investors are still and very well scrambling for it. The coming of the FIFA world cup to the African soil in 2010 is yet a good indicator of signs that’s Africa is coming up. The courageous steps taken in Ghana’s political sphere and Nigeria’s efforts in tackling corruption with the E.F.C.C. are laudable and are a sign that Africa is and will indeed rise…while there is still a lot to be done, I believe if there is always light at the end of the tunnel then I know this will happen, if the sun rises from the east and sets in the west then I say “YES WE CAN”
